Hi, I've just recently purchased a Brother MFC-J6510DW inkjet printer and I'm struggling to get the Control Center to open once installed. I'm operating on Windows 7 64 Bit. Once the installation is finished, I can see the icons for Control Center 4 (CC4), yet when I try to open it, nothing happens! This is after attempting to run as administrator, updating the software from Brother (although I literally bought the printer this week so the CD should be up to date). The other thing is that my girlfriend, who is also operating Windows 7 64, has installed CC4 and it works fine.
This makes me think there might be something up with my computer? If it helps: Samsung Series 7 Chronos, Intel Core i7 Processor, 8GB Memory Any help would be very much appreciated as I'm struggling to get much out of Brother! Cheers, Adam. Adam, I just got off the phone with a Brother Tech support representative cause I have been fighting the same problem for weeks. They walked me through and got it working for me.
I can tell you that I had to remove the 'Dell' folder from the C:/windows/twain32 folder. She told me to cut the Dell folder and paste it on the desktop. Then Control Center worked and I could scan. I don't know if you will have to follow the same process but for the first time ever in my experience with tech support for any company. The first solution they walked me through actually worked!! So I would recommend that!!!.RRA Files are created by InstallShield.
These are files that are created in the Program Directory when the file that the installation is trying to replace is locked. The file will be created with the first four letters of the real file name, followed by 4 random numbers and letters, followed by an extension of RRA. For example, if TBMAIN.EXE is in use at the time of the installation, a file named TBMA9F0B.RRA may be created in the program directory (or some other combination of letters and numbers following the 'TBMA' portion of the file name). InstallShield will also place an entry in the Windows Registry to tell the computer to replace the locked file on the next reboot. Once the file is replaced by the RRA file, the RRA file will be removed. The above was found on the internet. I had never encountered a.rra file before.

Jun 18, 2018 Here’s a howto for 3.5 install, you’ll need an iso of the OS to do it. The 3.5 install files do not get copied to the SxS directory by default. Feb 8, 2015 - Has anyone tried using WINE with Brother Control Center 4? It's pretty much the only thing I have to switch to Windows for.

Anyway, if anyone can actually help, after another attempted reinstall, I am now receiving a file error which states: 'The following error occured on the file 'C: windows SysWOW64 BroS482.rra' The system cannot find the file specified. (0x2)' Would this suggest a problem with my system or the software? It is also worth noting that this has not happened in previous installation attempts, so this might not necessarily be the issue, but if anyone knows anything about this particular type of error then it might lead to some kind of solution.RRA Files are created by InstallShield. So I would recommend that!!! Steph I had the same problem with my new Brother MFC-J435W and a new Dell desktop with Windows 7.
The above solution described by Steph worked for me also. I had the same non-service as you did, trying to use CC4 running on Win7 with my Brother DCP-7065DN. A lengthy conversation with customer service there ended on a bad note, with them claiming the problem was on my side - which of course is true in a sense, but completely unhelpful! They had no suggestions on diagnostics or anything, they just threw up their hands. So, I installed iCopy, a free scanner-control program, and print to CutePDF Writer, a free print-to-PDF driver, and that all works fine. Printing, I'm glad to say, has never been an issue.
Oddly, my wife's laptop, also Win7, never had an issue, CC4 works OK. I encountered this (or a similar problem) just today. I installed the Brother ImageCenter ADS2000 on an old Del XP machine at work yesterday and all was well. This morning I tried to run the Control Center, and nothing would happen-no error, nothing.
I uninstalled, reinstalled, stood on one leg, etc, but kept having the same issue. Finally, it occurred to me that the program was behaving as if it were already running, so I checked the Task Manager Processes tab and indeed found the Control Center process running. I cancelled this process, then tried to run the Control Center again, and it started right up.
This is obviously not the same issue that everyone is having, but definitely worth a try if you encounter this issue. So I would recommend that!!! Steph Same problem for me and this solution is the best i have find. I am using a custom-built 64-bit PC (not Dell, not HP) running Windows 7 Pro.
Was having the same trouble with Brother Control Center 4 not launching. It ran fine for two weeks and then would not launch.
No error message. I uninstalled, re-installed, ran the Fix and nothing worked. I found a post elsewhere and this was the solution for my machine. Type 'services.msc' in Start Run. Find the Print Spooler and make sure Startup Type is set to Automatic.
Stop the Print Spooler Service. Wait a couple seconds. Start the Service. Control Center popped up and is working fine. I just purchased & installed a new Brother MFC-7360N laser printer on a Dell XPS8700 & had the same problem with ControlCenter4 not working. I'm running Windows 8.1.
I called Brother & wasted over 45 minutes on hold before getting a Brother Tech Support Rep. His answer was to uninstall the printer & load the 'Full Drivers & Software Package' from the Brother Solution Center. I tried this & it didn't work - CC4 would still not open. His suggestion then was to call DELL & that made no sense to me. I finally stumbled upon this answer & 'IT WORKED'.
Now CC4 opens flawlessly. THANK YOU SO MUCH! Adam, I just got off the phone with a Brother Tech support representative cause I have been fighting the same problem for weeks. How is Dell screwing up my Acer?!?!?!?!?!?
I am trying to instal Control Center 4 on a Windows 10 x64 computer and getting the error 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object' many time while the installation run and end up with no software installed. It'S the second computer where i get this problem, the first one was on Windows 7 and the Brother support was'nt usefull to stay polite.
Anyone have gotten this error, I have try pretty much everything i could think of and google was'nt really usefull, exept telling me the error his probably linked to.net Framework.
